In 2009, Kristine lost her job as an assistant designer in NYC and in the same month, took her first hot yoga class where she fell in love. In time, her old soccer shorts could no longer withstand the sweat, wear and washing of a 6 day/week practice, so she tasked herself with designing the ultimate hot yoga short. The Bum Bum was born and after great reviews from fellow students and teachers, she founded  K-DEER and began the journey of sharing what she loved.
In 2010, Kristine completed her 200hr teacher training with Jimmy Barkan in south Florida and began teaching in her home town hot yoga studio. Daily, she would get orders, hand cut and sew each short and ship them out to customers around the world.Â
As a yoga student and teacher, Kristine founded K-DEER and its culture through the values and ethical guidances of yoga as best she could. With a fashion design degree from Syracuse University, she stepped into the journey of running a business with her heart and that continues to shine through to this day.Â
We've evolved over the last 8 years to provide a collection of apparel for all shapes, sizes and activities. From our roots in hot yoga to running, dance fitness, boxing and everything in between, what we make is meant to support and enhance your experience and confidence.
As a size inclusive brand, we are proud to offer sizes from XS up to 4XL. Our men's yoga short gets rave reviews from the most seasoned Bikram practitioners and our leggings are also loved by men who love the full compression fit. Kids are empowered and encouraged to play full out in their K-DEER and parents love the ease of washing, wearing and finding their kids in a crowd!
In yoga, seva, or service, is a very important part of the practice. We serve by giving back to communities that not only need the financial assistance but the awareness. We proudly use our social and online platforms to help bring awareness to unpopular causes and the associated non profit organizations that are making a difference in the world.
How does it work? Our Signature Stripes are named after inspiring women and support a cause that is close to her heart. Five percent of e-commerce proceeds from Signature Stripes sales go to causes that raise awareness and create positive change for individuals and communities in need. We have raised more than $150,000 to date!
